The 31th General Meeting in Hsinchu, Taiwan
The 31st General Meeting of XGP Forum was held on September 17, 2014 at Sheraton Hotel Hsinchu, Taiwan. We have 19 member corporations at current and 25 people from 9 entities, GTI(Global TD-LTE Initiative), TDIA (Telecommunication Development Industry Alliance), ITRI(Industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan, R.O.C) attended the meeting.
Hsinchu is located in the northwestern part of Taiwan. It takes about one hour to reach the city from Taipei by car. It is a hub of the national policy of industrial promotion fused with excellent local universities. Hsinchu Science Park hosts many foreign companies including Japanese. It has also become Mecca of wearable devices in recent years. The Rice noodle is a well- known food there and folksy snack stalls are around street.
1. Opening address
Mr. Sugiura, Secretary General of XGP Forum, announced the opening of the General Meeting and introduced the outline and minutes of the meeting.
2. Chairperson’s opening address
Mr. Yoichi Maeda, Chairperson of XGP Forum, warmly welcomed all the attendees from Japan and China and Taiwan.
3. Keynote speech
After Mr. Matsui gave inaugural speech as new vice Chairperson, Madam Huang Yuhong, Chief Secretary of GTI, gave the keynote speech about LTE TDD/FDD Aggregation; Mr. Jin Yidun, deputy Secretary of TDIA, gave the keynote speech about TD-LTE movement in China; Dr. Ching-Tarng Hsieh, Senior Engineer of ITRI, introduced ITRI and 5G Collaboration. Mr. James,Lin CTO of First International Telecom which is one of XGP Forum members, gave an interesting presentation regarding their latest movement.
4. Resolutions to Be Approved
Item 1: Election of Chairperson, Vice-Chairpersons and others
Per Article 6 of XGP Forum Agreement, Chairperson and vice-chairpersons shall be elected in every two years, and this General Meeting was the year for the election. Mr. Fusaki Matsui from ARIB was nominated as one of Vice-Chairpersons; Mr. Takatoshi Yoshikawa from Kyocera Corporation who was nominated as new PWG Chairperson and Mr. Shun Iwaki from WCP who was nominated as Deputy Secretary General and all got approved. Others would serve consecutive terms.
Item 2: The Minutes of the previous General Meeting
The minutes of 30th General Meeting were introduced by secretariat office and got approved.
Item 3: Acknowledging New Members
Two entities named Venus&Mercury Telecom B.V. and Location Inc. were introduced as new members and got approved.
Item 4: The Activities and the Expenditure Results in FY 2013
Secretary General introduced general activities and each chairperson of TWG, BWG, PWG presented activity reports held in 2013 respectively. All of them got approved.
Item 5: The proposal of Activities and the Budget in FY 2014(July 2014 ~ June 2015)
Secretary General introduced general activities to be carried on in 2014 and each chairperson of TWG, BWG, PWG presented activity plans for 2014 respectively. All of them got unanimously approved.
After the General Meeting was over, TWG&BWG&PWG Meeting was held at the same venue. Each chairperson and members introduced what they had performed and achieved during the last fiscal year in detail as well as their expectation. Various initiative strategy and plans were changed and made it very profitable meeting.
XGP Forum 31st General Meeting
On the day before the General Meeting, Mobile Broadband Development Summit was held at the same hotel, which was organized by Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute and the GTI. XGP Forum has carved its name as a co-organizer. About five hundred people from all over the world joined the summit and government official of Taiwan and China, senior officer from China Mobile, Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone Telecommunications, SoftBank Mobile, Sprint and others addressed speech and presentation. Mr. Maeda, chairman of XGP Forum, gave a presentation called "Trends and status of TDD mobile broadband ".

FDD operators like Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone Telecommunications constructed LTE TDD/FDD dual trial network based on Band3（FDD band in 1.8GHz）andBand41（TDD band in 2.6GHz）around convention hall and demonstrated high-speed data transmission of TD-LTE and TDD / FDD bidirectional seamless handover technology.
First International Telecom also held a press conference and appealed the superior performance of XGP technology under the XGP slogan.

Drive demo is provided by Chunghwa Telecom and Far EasTone Telecommunications in the afternoon. All the participants were able to experience LTE TDD / FDD dual network integration applications and handover.
