SoftBank gave a driving demonstration of a “LTE-Advanced TDD” over 3.4 - 3.6 GHz band.

At “2013 GTI Ad Hoc Seminar” in Tokyo, SoftBank gave a driving demonstration of a “LTE-Advanced TDD” experimental system over 3.4 - 3.6 GHz frequency band. It achieved good performance with Carrier Aggregation (20MHz x 4), 4x4 MIMO, CoMP in dense urban area like Ginza.

SoftBank is now executing field tests of “LTE-Advanced TDD” using 3.4 - 3.6 GHz frequency band around Ginza and Ikebukuro in Tokyo, in order to prove more comfortable communication environment for mobile broadband.

At “2013 GTI Ad Hoc Seminar” which was held on August 27th and 28th in Tokyo, SoftBank gave a driving demonstration of “LTE-Advanced TDD” experimental system.

4G system can realize 1 Gbps of maximum transmission speed for down link using broader frequency bandwidth than current system. Also, 4G system can support some high technologies such as Carrier Aggregation, Enhanced MIMO, HetNet, and CoMP, which bring more improvement of frequency utilization efficiency.

As 3.4 GHz frequency band is higher frequency band, in particular, the great interest of our “LTE-Advanced TDD” field test is occupied. That is, a stable communication service for any smart phone and mobile devices can be realized or not. Also, further mobile broadband evolution even if higher frequency band can be caused or not.

To contribute the progress of mobile broadband in the world, around 150 participants from government-affiliated organizations, telecommunications carriers and venders in 18 countries joined "2013 GTI Ad Hoc Seminar". On 2nd day (August 28), SoftBank gave a driving demonstration of a “LTE-Advanced TDD”. It appeared good propagation characteristic over 3.4 – 3.6 GHz frequency band and excellent performances including throughput in dense urban area like Ginza.
