XGP User Report ãñŽ¡

--By K.N., A WILLCOM Fan

WILLCOM launched its XGP commercial service in October 2009. I finally managed to obtain one terminal, data communication card modeled GX001N. The following is a report from the test use of the service on the street by inserting it into a laptop.

I drove along the east area of JR Yamanote Line, which is within the coverage at the current stage. Starting from Ikebukuro Station, I passed Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ebisu, Sinagawa, Hamamatsuchou, Tokyo Station along Yamanote Line, and the results of the test were favorable.

Especially at the intersection of Kabukichou in Shinjuku area, at the Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station, in front of Akihabara and Iidabashi, it demonstrated a stable downlink speed of 9.6Mbpsnž10.5Mbps and uplink speed of 8.3Mbpsnž11.1Mbps in the moving automobile.

The average speed at other service area excluding the ones mentioned above is also stable with downlink at 7.8Mbps and uplink at 7.1Mbps. Besides the advantage of very little difference between uplink and downlink, it is also a stunning service in regard of the stable and high throughput measured.

Regarding its performance indoor, I test the service in certain banks and hotels which were both buildings with huge glass windows.ŽÂŽ  I gained high throughput at places 10m to 30m away from the windows.åàŽ€The average speed acquired from indoor areas other than the ones mentioned above were 4.2Mbps for downlink and 3.2Mbps for uplink. Both of which cleared our worries about the penetration rate of the service.

With this test, I was satisfied with the uplink performance which was both stable and fast. As the next step, I hope to see the expansion of service area as soon as possible.
